a little bit of good news in troubled times November 01 2025

balancing tragedy and heartbreak with celebrating the tiny things...
i have held off on sharing the good news bear for a long time. i had thought i would introduce this DIY kit when there was a bright spot of good news in the world. i have been waiting and waiting for a break in the news cycle, hoping for a moment when things didn’t feel so heavy. then i remembered what sparked this project in the first place: the little moments and small details that bring me joy each day. the good news bear is a place to spotlight the tiny things that might otherwise be overlooked. i find most of these little moments when i am wandering in the woods: the tiniest mushroom, the fieriest red fall leaves, the majestic coyote in the field, the windfall of madrona berries... there is abundant beauty if we actively seek it out.
the good news bear is here to remind you to take note of the little details in life that bring you joy. a favorite memory, a friendly reminder, a silly joke, words of encouragement, the countdown to a special event, the acknowledgment of an accomplishment, a thoughtful observation, daily news that is worth sharing... this bear is a delightful way to celebrate and share your good news.
i designed the good news bear in partnership with the bazaar girls, a lovely local yarn shop in my sweet town of port townsend, wa. you can find the good news bear diy kit at the bazaar girls or in my online shop.
interchangeable covers (heart, star, and flower) hide a metal binder clip that is stitched to the belly of the bear. change the cover with your whim or the season. hang your good news bear by the front door, on the fridge, by your desk, near a calendar, or anywhere it will put a smile on your face.
the kit includes materials to make one 3 x 7” bear and 3 clip covers:
