a prized possession... in a few new colors October 17 2026

keeping my imperfect patchwork & little stitchings kit well stocked and organized is essential.

the envelope is machine-stitched out of plant-dyed organic cotton/hemp and is lined in indian block-printed cotton with a stitched cotton twill wrap closure. it has an internal divider so you can keep your fabric and thread separate from your notions and tools. the kit measures 8 x 6” with 1.5" gusset and a 30” closure.

one of the pieces of this kit that i am the most proud of is the the tiny book tucked inside.
this 28-page booklet is filled with mending instructions, stitch inspiration, drawings, photos, and musings.

“taking the time to slow down and work with your hands is meditative and restorative. i hope it brings you as much joy as it brings me.”

i  keep a pocket notebook and extra tools in my kit, these are available as add-ons.

• the raw edge linen pocket notebook is the perfect size to tuck into the kit, a place for sketches, doodles, notes, and inspiration.

• the extra tools include a glue stick (for tacking down patches while stitching), hemostat forceps (for pulling a needle through thick fabric like canvas or denim) and a soft thimble. these come packaged in a plant-dyed muslin bag (colors vary).

my kit stays quite consistent, the project i’m working on is always up for consideration.
a stack of mending beckons me from the corner of the studio. this often requires me to collect particular threads and pieces of fabric. my most beloved pieces of clothing are the ones with repairs on top of repairs. i wear my clothes hard, the garden and dye house give the gift of stains and tears and the opportunity for thoughtful mending. my patchwork isn’t fussy or meticulous, i love to see the contrasting stitchwork and overlapping patches…  thus the “imperfect patchwork” name of this essential kit. below are a few of my most recent projects.

i also like to keep a more methodical, slow stitching project at the ready.
the stitch the design pieces are small and contained and fit right inside the kit. these tiny, densely stitched pieces are an ode to some of my favorite handwork. the original works live in my favorite art books; the pages have been marked as inspiration for years. i look to them because the patterns, movement, and colors are unusual and appealing. each little stitching is intended to adorn your wall or be worn as a necklace. it can be finished as a pocket or a square. below one adorns one of my mom’s hand knit sweaters.
