new scissor slips and a refreshed project bag for fall October 11 2025

i made a collection of
plant-dyed wool felt scissor slips for my shop.
the wool felt that i used for this project is a beautiful expression of the magic of plants. within the color families of purple/blues, peach/pinks, and yellow/greens are a whole spectrum of subtle distinction. the smallest addition to the dye pot can make a hint of variation or a huge change. i love to pull fabric out at every stage of the dye process to see the nuanced differences. each one of a kind scissor slip is embroidered with a botanical design using silk/mohair from the lamb & kid.
find the full collection here.

at the beginning of a new season, i always refresh my project bags.
i empty out the tools, materials, stitching and mending projects, bits of thread, and scraps of fabric. i re-organize, clean out the things i’m finished with, and tuck in a few new things to work on. a part of this process is the addition of a new ‘special’ tool or material: a sharp new pencil, a freshly organized needle book, a bundle of precious threads, a little blank journal, or a new scissor slip. working with high quality and aesthetically pleasing tools and materials enhances my whole crafting experience. these are special gifts for someone who works with threads.

i like to keep a stitching project that is just for fun in my tidied up project bag.
stitching grounds me and keeps me connected. in the midst of the chaos and fear of this dreadful news cycle, slow and methodical handwork quiets my mind and helps me refocus.

a DIY pocket pal kit is a sweet little project to help you slow down in a time of overwhelm. it is comforting to stitch something simply because it brings joy. these pint sized heavily stitched pals can be carried around in your pocket, hung as a decoration, or given to a friend. choose between five cute critters (or collect them all).
pocket pals are also available made.
