stitching handmade love for valentine's day January 24 2026

nothing makes me happier than stitching things for people i hold dear.
i love that valentine’s day marks an official day to recognize and think about the friends, family, and pets that i cherish for big and small reasons. we really should do this every day, but how nice to be reminded once a year. i began my valentine’s crafting this year with a vintage silk sari that was gifted to me by a dear friend. i wanted to honor this beautiful fabric and incorporate the stunning shade of burgundy into a valentine project. the torn silk became the heart flames and cordage for the indigo amulet pouch with a teeny tiny book and the strand to hang the angel kitty ornament. these are the valentine gifts for my special loves: my husband (who loves his giant dog, big machines, and over-landing vehicles) to whom i love to gift teeny tiny things, and my favorite creature on the whole entire planet, my cat myra. i made a small collection of both for my shop.

*the last day to order for valentine’s day is february 7th*

i am a little bit obsessed with tiny pouches and miniature books.
so i combined them with this little indigo heart amulet pouch with a teeny tiny book, and i think it is the perfect way to send handmade love. each pouch is hand stitched out of indigo dyed linen fabric and is adorned with a pink plant-dyed wool felt heart that is embellished with an antique sequin. the flames are made from a vintage silk sari. the same sari fabric became the cordage for hanging… this can be worn as a necklace or hung as a decoration. a teeny tiny indigo-covered handbound book is tucked inside for writing a love note. the book color varies slightly in each amulet. amulet pouch measures about 2 x 2” and hangs from a 26” strand of silk cordage. the teeny tiny book measures .75 x 1.25” and has 14 pages.

i am also obsessed with my cat, myra, who i call tiny. (she is NOT tiny.)
she is also NOT an angel as she regularly terrorizes my studio, but she is perfect to me. i made this little collection of
angel kitty ornaments in her honor. each ornament is hand-stitched out of plant-dyed wool felt. the kitty face is lightly stuffed with buckwheat hulls and has a heart stitched on the chest, the decorated wings are free to flutter. angel kitties measure about 3” wide (including wings) and 1.25” tall. each hangs from a 30” strand of hand-torn burgundy silk ribbon made from a vintage sari.
