this is how i celebrate the 4th of july... July 04 2026

this feels like a good way to celebrate the 4th of july...
as we salute our nation’s independence this weekend and look ahead to a hugely important election season, i have been stitching the word VOTE on repeat. no fireworks here, just a needle and thread. i made a collection of plant-dyed wool felt vote buttons, a vote button DIY kit, and a vote button free sewing tutorial. make a button for yourself, for your family, for your friends.
i have been voting for over 40 years and i think i have taken it for granted. it feels more essential than ever to exercise this right and make our voices heard. let’s make sure we keep our elections free and fair. i am donating $5 from the sale of each button and DIY kit to:

vote buttons are made with plant-dyed wool felt that i dyed in my dye studio with flowers from my dye garden. buttons are stitched with silk/mohair lace weight yarn from the lamb & kid and measure about 1.75 x 1.75” to 2.75 x 2.75”. each button is one-of-a-kind.

the vote button DIY kit includes instructions, materials, and photo inspiration to make three plant-dyed wool felt VOTE buttons. you can stitch one in each of the three designs, or make multiples of your favorite. wear your button on a tote bag, backpack, coat, purse, beanie, or baseball cap. make them for your friends!
local to the port townsend area? find the kits at the bazaar girls yarns shop!
