big and small: brooklyn and home, my journal and a seed necklace
i just returned from a whirlwind trip to the east coast. this was the view from my window for the first week of my trip, a sharp contrast from home. venturing away via airplane, there is nothing gradual about the change in scenery. it is shocking and a little overwhelming to my system. once i settled in, i immediately remembered why i LOVE new york. time in brooklyn is so different from my life at home, and tatter blue library is beyond what i ever could have imagined. it is a creative wonderland.

the quiet comforts of a few items from home kept me grounded: my stitching projects, my seed necklace, and my extra large journal. the seed necklace was a great reminder of my bursting garden waiting for me at home. i was assured by dear friends who were care taking that the plants were all thriving. and to think that everything blossomed from a tiny seed...
the seed necklace can be worn at 4 different lengths, measuring 17” at it’s longest and 14.5” at the shortest. a recycled bronze hand-cast seed charm is centered on a crocheted cord with a cluster of beads to one side. the necklace is available in two colors: brown with turquoise beads, and red with soft pink and red beads. delicate yet strong, this is a piece of jewelry that is meant to be worn every day.

i finished my extra large journal on the trip back east, the final pages filled with flower inspiration for the wool felt flower making class that i taught at tatter blue library. i need a new one, so I got busy working on a new batch right when i got home. the nine colors for the new journals are fanned behind my big book. find the full collection here.

my garden exploded when i was gone, the weld is so beautiful and so prolific. now begins my favorite summer ritual, heading to the dye garden at dawn each day to harvest the bounty.
