new reversible tote bags for summer June 28 2025
is it possible to have too many tote bags?
it is nice to venture off with a new bag, and i am extra excited about this one because it is reversible. i am someone who does not fancy travel, yet i seem to be doing a lot of it lately. so many people that i love live far away from me. i like to keep a well organized tote bag with me at all times where i carry around just the things i need (which is my little traveling studio). for me, this is like wearing the right shoes or bringing the right jacket on an outing. a reversible tote bag can spice up my same old clothes when i travel, since i tend to bring more stitching projects than outfits in my suitcase.
i made a small batch of these reversible tote bags for my shop. they measure 12 x 13” and hang 12.5” below the shoulder. totes are machine stitched out of plant-dyed organic cotton/hemp and lined with indian block-printed cotton. the pocket size varies between the totes, but all are large enough for a phone. i am obsessed with collecting block-printed cotton, and these bags are the perfect way for me to share my collection. i was lost for hours in the visual feast of pairing the plant-dyed bag and pocket colors with the printed cotton fabric... my favorite kind of project.
i always have a stitching project in my tote bag. the most essential part of my traveling studio is a needle book with a pocket and a pair of snips. tuck in a stitch the design or a stitch the scene project, and i can always keep my hands busy.
the needle book with a pocket is also available as a free sewing tutorial, and you can find the DIY needle book materials bundle in my shop.
my collection of over 50 free sewing tutorials has summer stitching projects to keep hands of all ages busy. these projects are perfect for using up your own fabric stash. you can also find an assortment of plant-dyed fabrics in different sizes, weights, and textures in my shop. happy stitching!
PS: i know myra is happy to have me home, but she is punishing me for leaving by refusing to make eye contact.
