the potential in a fabric bundle April 12 2025

making stitched pieces with odd shaped bits and strips of fabric with an unpredictable color palette is a passion of mine. it is the perfect way to display a beautiful spectrum of plant-dyed fabrics.

this winter i took a week-long workshop at botanical colors with sara buscaglia of farm & folk. it is so hard for me to step away from my routine and do something just for myself, but this was an amazing experience with a cherished outcome. upon arrival the table was set with the most thoughtful assortment of plant-dyed quilting fabric. we had five days to create applique quilts and soak in sara’s laidback expertise and creative energy. it was an inspiring and thought provoking week. here are a few samples of what i made...

i really love working with this 5 ounce muslin fabric and thought you might too. it is perfect for quilting projects. i just added a new plump bundle with 10” squares of plant-dyed 5 ounce organic cotton/hemp muslin to my shop.

i also have 9 ounce organic cotton/hemp (light canvas) in 4” and 8” squares and 5.6 ounce hemp linen in 5” squares. the linen is a more textured and a bit heavier than the 5 ounce muslin. you can also find a remnant bundle with an assortment of colors, weaves, and weights. complete your stitching project with plant-dyed sashiko thread.

you will find lots of inspiration for using various weights of plant-dyed fabrics in my collection of over 50 free sewing tutorials.
happy stitching!

PS: myra would like to be the subject of my next applique quilt
